Bravia XH900H & Virgin V6 box - using Bravia remote to control box

Hi all,

Recently set up my new XH90 55” and am very happy with it overall. Just wondering if it’s possible to control my virgin v6 box using the included remote? When I first set it up it worked with limited functionality, it would bring up the menu but was a bit hit or miss with navigating around it. I now am unable to use it at all to navigate menus when using the virgin box. Signal & everything is fine, picture is good & it’s not the end of the world if I can’t but would just reduce the need for a second remote if it is possible! I quick google shows that this TV is compatible without using an IR blaster if that helps at all! Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I use my Bravia TV remote with my v6 box with no issues. Have you went to Settings -> Watching TV -> External Inputs -> TV box setup?

Only thing I need to do is remember that controlling the V6 box is through infrared not bluetooth, so make sure the controller has line of sight to the v6 box.

Hi, I have Sony Bravia TV and Sony STR-DH790 AV Receiver connected to Virgin Tivo via HDMI. I do the opposite and control TV/Surround Sound Audio using the Tivo remote - on the basis that the Tivo controls are more complex (TV Guide, Record, 'Red Button' functionality etc.) whereas on the TV/AV I'm just controlling volume. The Sony Sync works between the TV and AV, but doesn't play so well with Tivo... whereas the TIVO remote can just about handle volume. Sorry doesn't help if you genuinely want to change TV settings, but for 90% of daily viewing this works well.

Hi,

Finally got mine connected to Virgin Media box.

go to Settings > channels & inputs > external inputs > TV box setup > setup by model number > TV box > set up > then pick your HDMI input > then type in ziggo >

At this point it ask for a model number

Type - DCX960

and fingures crossed you could change channels using Sony Remote!
