Sony KDL 43W807C is now defaulting to the Home Screen and will not let me out.

This happened whilst I was watching TV and the set turned itself off and went into a restart mode. When it came back up the Home Screen displayed but whatever I select it just blanks out and returns to the Home Screen. I can still access Netflix via the remote button though. I have tried retuning and have even tried a factory reset and then re tuned but each time I try to access anything I just go round in a loop. If I try to select You View, it says that I have no channels stored but if I retune it finds 170+. Anyone got any ideas before I just replace the set. Incidentally before this happened I couldn’t access the Home Screen. The factory reset does not appear to have reset any of my data.

I'm afraid to tell you that your TV got infected with the reboot loop curse my friend!
While everything is disconnected from it, try to perform a forced reset instead of the standard factory reset: https://cutt.ly/Z6hBmpi.
And if that didn't help, then It'll need to be repaired.

Unfortunately that did not work in my case. The TV rebooted twice but I still got the Home screen. I tried a factory reset using the remote but it just kept asking whether I wanted to delete everything. A YES reply resulted in a loop. I disabled wifi because I noticed that it was still recognising my WiFi even though I had already said forget. Then I went through the hard factory reset again but still ended up with the home screen. I performed a factory reset using the remote and it appeared to work but after rebooting itself it is now in a reboot loop. I think its time to call it a day with this one!

Thanks for your help anyway. If anyone wants a sick Sony Bravia 43 inch let me know and you can have it for free.
