Oh and you can try this too:

goto settings -> apps & notifications -> app info -> weather -> storage -> clear cache & clear data -> restart device

You should be able to type weather into the Google search box widget. Choose the word weather from the results. On the top right corner of the resulting screen should be a menu that offers you an option to save the weather as a shortcut on your home screen. Otherwise there are other weather widgets available at the Google Play Store.
