Does X Compact chip have hardware encryption (or encryption instructions?)

Now that Google is requiring that all Android handsets starting with Marshmallow have data encryption, I was wondering - does the X Compact chip (Snapdragon 650) do hardware-level encryption, or have special encryption instructions?

I was wondering, since if the X Compact had to encrypt/decrypt its data with only unaided software, this would slow the phone way down.

I wasn't able to find online much about the difference between the X Compact with encryption enabled vs disabled (users aren't allowed to disable it, unfortunately).

I just got my X Compact yesterday, and have been setting it up. After installing all of my apps, I rebooted the phone.

It takes about 15 seconds to get to the PIN-entering screen. After I enter it, it takes about 40 seconds to finish booting.

That's about a minute of boot-up time.

This, compared with about 35 seconds total for my Z3 Compact to boot up, and, also, 35 seconds for my old Nexus 5 to boot.

I'd think a newer phone might boot faster, but it seems slower.

Could this be the required encryption slowing things down?

Anyone also notice this slow boot-up time?

You really think this is slow? My Z5 Compact takes about 45 seconds get to PIN screen...I have latest updates and android 6.0.1 ...so I think you are still better on it, but we still dont know why, other manufacturers have faster and smoother booting then Sony...like my girlfriends Honor 7Lite- it takes half time to boot up...but the prize and hw of this devices is riddiculous...strange 😕

It has got the ARM instruction sets, which will be optimal for it.

Qualcomm will not include any kind of instruction set of it's own.

Yeah every new phone since

2014 should be able to be fast with decrypting.

Hi...my Device is Bootloader unlocked and I've tried a variant or two of TWRP.
Ive tried the DRM fix Genesis Kernel, and the patch it yourself Genesis Kernel both of which state they disable forced encryption.
I have Tried Factory Resets, i've tried data wipes, and i've tried downgrading. Anyone else having similar issues?

Sony does not trust you.

If you want to unlock the mobile for installing other System you loose all your data.

It's not my first Mobile I unlock but this happens only on Sony.

Next mobile will be an Android One to be in peace for 3 years.

Unlocking does not make you lose data.

Installing a new system does.

However, before playing on the edge you should prepare and create a backup.
