Hi @manniee, welcome to the community.

Does this happen on other Wi-Fi connections too? If so, I recommend you run a software repair using Xperia Companion.

If it's only happening on your home connection, check the following router settings using a computer. If you are not sure how to change the settings, check the user guide of the router or contact your router manufacturer.

Network mode/speed: Change to auto or mixed mode instead of b, g or n.

SSID and password: Make sure there are no special characters or characters which are not in the standard ASCII character set.

DHCP: Make sure it’s turned on. You could also try setting a static IP address if you have problems accessing the Internet using your Wi-Fi connection.

MAC filter: Make sure it’s turned off. Also set your device as allowed.

Channel: Try using another channel, preferably 11 or lower.

Hi everyone,

I have had my Xperia X for about 2 months now. The issue with it is that the WiFi reception on it is very weak. I have to me within 1 meter of the WiFi router for it to actually load anything when connected to WiFi.

Any further the reception drops to almost nothing and it struggles to load anything! My laptop and all the other phones we have are absolutely fine.

Any ideas?

Thank you.

I have the exact same issue with my Sony xperia X! Did you get this resolved? I have emailed the Sony support team where I live in nz so hopefully they can tell me what to do. I don't want to buy a new phone as this is only 15months old and I love the phone just not the wifi issue.

Hi all,

Unfortunately there is notging to do, xperia x is a bad phone choice, full stop. I used to have an experia z compact, which was a good phone, strong WiFi connection and signal. Had to change due to broken phone, so I thought the new xperia model will be as good, if not better.... But since day one I realised this is just a bad phone with poor wifi signal, as it will only get one bar or no signal, while the older Xperia z has 4 bars. Same settings, same router and everything, so no worth trying to convince anyone about "mysterious settings" etc... These are just attempts of the support team to shift the focus elsewhere, not worth trying anything but another phone, even an older Xperia z will be much better. Finally even the phone GSM signal seems to be poorer, which makes me wonder, whats the point of this phone if the basic functions of the phone are so poor.
