Is it normal for a battery to drain so quickly when the issue is the screen. I have turned the brightness right down and the screen time out to lowest time. After 20 minutes on Google and a couple of apps, it had lost 20 % which seems a lot??

After this last update (Oreo A.2.19) the problem of battery drain continues not so much as before but remains the same as the problem of the light sensor on the screen is still there now seems that it improved a bit the calibration of the lighting but still at night it does not have a good criterion to the brightness and noticed that in sunlight in front of my phone the screen is over saturated with a white tone as if the colors burned and the screen seems of inferior quality. The problem of battery and screen are the two major problems that in my opinion are more important if they could be repaired as was in Nougat

Battery drain is one of the most common problems.

Best starting point is reading what Sony explains about avoiding excessive battery drain.

There is a very good post in the FAQ as well.

Know that your phone uses a lot of energy scanning for WiFi- and mobile networks, especially in areas with weak signals.

Your phone doesn't have to be online all the time. Give it some rest when the screen is black.

switch off WiFi scanning and Bluetooth scanning (settings->search for scanning)

Don't let your device search for open networks

Switch off WiFi during sleep (settings-> Configure WiFi)

Disallow WiFi roam scans (settings->developper options)

What you will notice that it takes a second to switch on WiFi after you have opened the screen.
your reward will be prolonged battery life.

There is another reward:

Nowadays in shops and public places your device will be scanned.

It is done for advertising and selling purposes. (and maybe more)

By switching of WiFi, Bluetooth and mobile networks your phone will be less visible to the outside world.

Hello and thank you for trying to help me out here... 😃

I will first tell you about ALL problems Ive had with this device since I got it some weeks ago:

1. Battery discharing fast. Worth to notice is that in the morning, when I unplug the power - the battery percentage drops a few percent just the first half an hour, almost directly or when doing "light stuff" with the phone.

2. The peformance of the phones feels from time to time very, very low: Menu lags, scrolling lags et.

3. The phone becomes very hot occationaly, even though its no heavy apps running at allt (like something its going on in the background).

4. The sound seem to bug from time to time. I first noticed this when using Sony Audio recorder. The recorded sound had some disturbance, static. After safe boot this dissapeared. But from time to time, I stil hear some weird static noice, very shortly - bit still...

5. The screen seem to (quite often) miss when i swipe or toutches the phone. Sometimes I have to try as many as 5 times before the phone seem to react. (no gloves etc).

6. The camera seem to be unresponsive. Sometimes when I turn it on, it only shows "what it sees" but now GUI at all, no buttons, not sliders etc. Also, sometimes it wont take a phone when I press on the screen (the physical buttons seems fine though). Could have to do with nr 5 above.

I have tried both Fail Safe Mode, and I have also factory resetted the phone. The problems remains.

Im not sure what more I can do. Im not even sure if the drainage is normal, or if it has something to do with the other problems. What I DO know is that Andoid 9 / Pie seem to got autoinstalled while I set up the phone the first time. Could these problem have to do with latest android?

There are some settings, from the suggestions you gave me, that I can't find in Android 9. Wifi-scanning is one of them. It turned on when I choosed that I wanted my wifi to turn on when I got back home. ("...Then you need to activate wifi-scanning...something...something..."). But there is only a way to turn of the feature to start up wifi, not to shut down wifi-scanning. Is this gone in 9 / Pie?

How about the other settings, are they applayable to 9 / pie?

Do you have any more suggestions for me? Whats up with my phone?

Thanks in advance!!
