Bluetooth Music Controls

Since update to Android 8 on my Xperia X whilst I can play music on the car system via Bluetooth I cannot fast forward or repeat tracks using the cars buttons as I could before the update. Any ideas?

I have exactly the same problem, with the music application or with spotify....

If you don't try you won't know.

There is an old trick that helped some people before.

Don't know if it applies here, but you can try it.

Unpair both devices from each other.
Go to Settings -> System -> About phone -> tap multiple times on "Build number" until you enable "Developer options"
Go back to Settings -> System -> Developer options -> Networking -> Bluetooth AVRCP Version -> Choose AVRCP 1.4 or 1.5
Restart your phone
Pair devices and test.
Report back if it works or not.
