MDS-JB930 Minidisc deck

My minidisc deck has developed a fault whereby during playback the sound has started pausing and skipping. You can hear the deck seeking as if to focus. Bizzarely, if i turn the deck upside down discs play fine.

Any ideas on the problem and how to fix?

Hi there

Sorry that no one has responded sooner. Unfortunately I dont know the inner workings of this mini-disc player, however best guess is that a spring,belt or wire has snapped or been dislodged internally. I come to that conclusion because you said that it works when you turn it upside down. You would need to contact an authorised Sony Repair Centre to get them to investigate and fix this problem.
