cant here sound from tv through laptop

hello people, i hav a ar31e laptop and with a hdmi lead iam able to watch my movies from the laptop straight onto my lcd tv, the image is superb but i can only hear the spund through my laptop.

can any1 help me and tell me how to enable the sound to come through the tv, i hav to use some old crapy pc speakers at the mo and plug them into my head phone slot on the vaio.....not happy,

any advice will be very appreciated,

Hi den.

Have you changed the sound to the HDMI output?

Start -> Control Panel -> Sound

On the Playback Tab change the output to 'Digital Output Device' and click on 'Set Default'.

If you don't get sound you may have to click on 'Properties' and then 'Supported Formats' - turn off Dolby Digital -> Apply -> OK
