topic Is the UBP-X800M2 region free for DVD's? in Home Cinema, Projectors & Players

I have recently bought a UBP-X800M2 second hand. It works fine although I tried to play a region 1 DVD and it says it isn't supported. I had read that this player was region free for DVD's. Does the age of the player make a difference? The firmware is up-to-date as far as I can tell. Are there any hacks to make it region free if it isn't meant to be already?
