It seems the TV doesn't adjust the panel refresh rate when playing European 25/50 fps content using the internal apps. I've tested Netflix and Chromecast and both stutter horribly. Netflix on my old Samsung TV works fine as does using an external source. This is pretty unacceptable in 2021, is anything going to be done about it?
You should set Film mode to High in order to get the right movie cadence from your tv
@programmerTim Did that solve it for you? Could you also share the full model and software version so others with the same setup can benefit? ^^
Sorry, I missed these replies. When using the built-in apps, Android runs at 60Hz and panel runs at 120Hz.
Film mode off, the 25->60 pulldown pattern of 3:2:2:3:2 is pretty obvious.
Film mode helps, but 25 does not divide into 120 either. You typically get 5:5:5:5:4, but it seems to be a little erratic and there are noticeable jumps which is pretty annoying.
I have videos shot at 240fps capturing what the TV is doing, though I'm not sure if I'm allowed to share here.
The correct thing for the TV to do is to match the Android and panel refresh rate to a whole multiple of the video frame rate. In fact, the TV does this using an HDMI input, so there is no excuse to not sort out the internal apps properly.
