I agree with @LightFoot, your best bet for 3D now would be a purpose-made one (quick Google search for reference).

Bacause it adds very little complexity and cost to a BluRay player, and people might still want to be able to play their 3D discs on a 3D device they already own.

 

But 3D does add considerable cost and complexity to TVs, and the public has spoken - they are lukewarm at best about the idea, the special glasses, and the extra cost of 3D versions so the manufacturers of TVs now spend the money elsewhere, on ever better 2D picture processing.

 

Not being able to get a mainstream 3D TV any more may be a bit of a headache, but a bit of a headache, after watching a 3D movie, was another of the things that did for 3D.


My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…
