KD-49X8309C constant restarting

Last week our TV started turning on during the night scaring the life out of the family! and this weekend (Bank Holiday!) has gone into constant restart mode...

Tried the reset mode got the green LED (5 times), no change, tried holding the power button for 5 seconds but the white light is barely on for 5 seconds and this is doing nothing...(PS: not blinking red)

Tried hard wiring the broadband connection to see if this would help with update, nothing

Tried connecting to PC and changing the input but that won't work

No point in trying to update the firmware as I can't get any screen apart from the Sony and then Android logo in a loop

The Sony (empgloyee) at Currys reckons this is a software issue and Sony will fix it even out of warranty however I am seeing cases of changing motherboard, so my confidence is low!

I think I am answering my own question as I type however just for fun :-), can you tell me if I am up the preverbial or there is light at the end of the tunnel?!?!

Hi @Blanky73   I know it will be clutching at straws, but did you disconnect everything before trying a reset? The fact that it went downhill is not a good sign.

this could be the latest reply in history! but as i am about make another post with same topic with a newer TV....thought i might as well...

Sony are fully aware of their faulty motherboards and even repaired outside of warranty as it is a known fault
