Just recently installed latest software update for my TV.
The TV has lost the various settings it took me ages to figure out so it would work seamlessly with the Sony ZF9 soundbar and my BDV-E370 blu ray home cinema system.
Now, when I power on the TV the blu ray player powers up and blocks any sound output until I power off the blu ray player. I had this problem when I first put together this system. It involved tweeking the settings of one or all the devices.
I now have to figure out how to do it again.
Is it not possible to do system updates that don't wipe out existing customer settings?
Also noticed that recorded programmes were now forcing a PIN number to play them which it didn't used to do.
Don't think I set a specific PIN to begin with.

Phoned Sony support again to chase progress. There was none.
We swapped over the HDMI cables to rule out a cable fault.
Blu-ray player works fine connected to a cheap Tesco TV.
This confirms that it's not a hardware issue but the support lady suggested it was and that I sould get the equipment check by a Sony service centre at my expense. Not happening.
We have already established that all the hardware items are working fine including the HDMI cables. Ended call.
I've now resolved all the issues myself.
Unplugged everything from the power and each other.
Powered up TV only and performed a full factory reset. (A real pain as have to go thru WiFi and everything else.)
During this the TV asks if I want to connect any other equipment. Yes..
Next connected the HT-ZF9 sound bar to eARC 3 port of TV and eARC port of sound bar. TV goes thru set-up of sound bar.
It works OK.
Do I want to connect anything else. Yes..
Connect BDV-E370 blu-ray player to HDMI 2 port of TV. TV goes thru set-up of blu-ray player. It also works OK. No weird colours or missing sound.
Do I want to connect anything else. Yes..
A games consol. Connect it to HDMI 4 port ov TV. TV goes thru set-up of games consol. It to works fine.
Whole set-up now works as previously prior to TV firmware update that messed it all up to begin with.
Hi,
Please perform a factory reset and see if it helps.
If not, please get in touch with the Sony support.
Cheers
Peter
Thanks, but wouldn't that clear out any remaining customer input settings assuming that any were left by the software update?
Hi Roger
Updates aren't supposed to clear the settings. But it sounds like a glitch more than a configuration issue to me. It could help us help you if you let us know what is it that you had to do to sort it out.
Spent an hour last night fiddling with the audio and HDMI settings but no luck.
Did not have time today to address this problem. Am thinking of disconnecting the TV, soundbar and Blu-ray. Then doing a factory reset and start from scratch. I can't remember if the ZF9 soundbar was shown in the TV inputs menu across the bottom of the screen, but it isn't there now, just the blu-ray player.
Switching on the TV turns on the blu-ray but not the soundbar. In this state there is no sound until the blu-ray is turned off.
I also tried in the TV audio setting to switch from TV speakers to sound system.
The soundbar works for a couple of seconds then cuts out and the setting has switched itself from sound system back to TV speakers????
Another issue since the recent firmware update is it will not record to the HDD anymore. I can set programmes to record but it fails to do so. In the record option I can still see previously recorded shows and watch them.
I will try disconecting everything and a system reset. Will then call Sony support...
I phoned Sony support yesterday. I unplugged everything and powerd up TV first. They took control of the TV remotely and checked and changed a lot of settings. Connected soundbar and adjusted settings and the same with the blu-ray player.
Sound bar now turns on with TV and works. Recording of TV programmes now works.
After call ended tried a blu=-ray disc in the player. No sound at all and the picture is just magenta and green on the blu-ray Home screen and on the playback screens. Have phoned support back and sent them photos.
Awaiting response.
Have you tried using a different cable or port between the player and TV?
It was all working with the same hi spec cables.
What has changed since speaking to sony support is the order the devices are connected to each other.
Originally TV - HT ZF9 sound bar - BDV E370 blu-ray system. This was working fine.
New set-up is HT ZF9 sound bar - TV - BDV E370 blu-ray system. Weird colours and no sound from blu-ray player. TV ok though.
Def not the cables.
If I understand the connection map correctly, I believe that both the soundbar and the blu-ray system are connected directly to the TV.
If that's the case, have you tried using different ports on the TV?
