We have just recently bought a Sony TV 49XD8099 which we have connected to our existing Humax Foxsat-HDR via a HDMI cable.
With the TV switched on, then switching on the Humax it Boots Up in the normal way but the TV doesn't automatically recognise it and therefore we have to click on "Home" scan down to "Inputs" scan along and click on "Humax" to connect.
Also if we click on Bravia Sync Device List the HDMI Humax is not listed.
The other input devices DVD and Sound System both sync pefectly.
We have swapped HDMI cables and Inputs and carried out a factory reset the Humax but still no luck. (it worked perfectly with our old Panasonil TV)
I would be grateful for any suggestions as I know this should work

I see no indication in the manual for the Humax FoxSat-HDR that it implements CEC, the generic name for what Sony call Bravia Sync.
This is further borne out by the Humax's absence from the Sony's list of CEC devices.
Panasonics have a mechanism by which they recognise 'hot' HDMI inputs and switch to them, rather like the simple hot pin switching implemented by SCART sockets.
i think this is why the Humax worked with the Panny; but it will not autoswitch with the Sony, as the Sony is looking only for CEC switching.
See this link, though, for a possible solution based on a smart remote.

Hi,
I have a Sony KD-65 A85 and it’s remote was working fine with my Humax recorder though an HDMI connection, but all of a sudden I was playing around with the TV settings and it has stopped working. I have tried “searching for your TV box but the search doesn’t find anything.
Any suggestions?
Which Humax recorder, exactly? A Foxsat like the OP, a YouView box, or one of the more recent Humax recorders?
And can you remember what ‘playing around’ you did, exactly, with the TV settings?
One strong possibility, if your Humax has CEC, is that you have turned off Bravia Sync (Sony’s name for CEC). So find that setting in your TV’s menus, and turn it on again if it is off.
Other than that, with the Humax switched on, you should be able to find it by looking at the HDMI inputs in turn until you spot it.
However, if your playing around has fubared your settings in a way you can’t recover from, then you will need to Factory Reset your TV and set it up again.
Hi royabrown2,
Thanks for coming back to me.
Bravia Sync Is turned on and I have tried searching for the TV Box, and typed Humax but the search doesn’t find it.
I don’t know what settings I was in on the TV but it was nothing to do with the Bravia Sync.
When I check the link devices the it shows my Sony Blu-ray player and the box there, and it turns the box on/off so there is some kind of link.
I think I may have to reset the TV and try that.
The model is a Humax HDR 1100S By the way
Hi again,
I just did a soft reboot by holding down the power button on the TV for 5 secs and after rebooting it found the Humax again and all is working.
Thanks a lot for sharing the model and the solution you found!
Hopefully others would find this information helpful if they encounter the same issue.
