Hi trixie53 and welcome.

You need an iLINK cable (also known as Firewire cable) connected to the DV jack on the front of your camera and to the iLINK jack on your computer.

Use Windows Movie Maker which is part of Windows 7.

Hi Gerry the Mole I have a similar problem. I can connect my iLINK  cable via the dv skt on the front of the camera to  a usb on a computer. The cable has a 723 ref stamped on it.

When connected the camera is shown but under properties it says it is "unknown" and therefore I cannot take any data from it. The only way I have had any success is to use a "red/yellow/white" connector plugged into a dv recorder and plugging into an audio/video jack on the side. This method does not allow me to do much editing. Can you offer any advice?

Thanks
