A few months ago we started our 2013/2014 SWPA monthly photography competition with a wonderful prize: a RX1 camera. This month, and after thousands of amazing submissions from our Community, we’re closing the competition with an even better camera: the RX1R.
When we released the RX1 photographers immediately realised the important step that had been taken for professional photography. That camera was and is a marvellous piece of engineering: solid body, traditional 35mm lens to control aperture, focus and macro settings, built-in flash, 3-inch LCD screen, and a large 24.3 megapixel full frame CMOS sensor to produce incredibly sharp images and full HD 1080p video.
The RX1R builds on this incredible quality. The optical low-pass filter has been removed, giving images higher resolution, and we’ve incorporated a BIONZ image processor, which enables using high ISO sensitivity (up to 25600) with very low noise levels.
Like its predecessor, the RX1R features a Carl Zeiss Sonnar T* 35mm f/2 lens, a wonderful match for a camera that can fit in a shirt pocket. With the traditional 35mm focal length range, this is one of the highest performers out there. If you want to understand the beauty and perfection of the RX1 family go to your nearest Sony store and get a feel for them – it’ll surprise you how small and compact they are.
The theme for this month’s photography competition is “Nature and Wildlife” and, once more, we are looking forward to seeing those wonderful images of yours. Don’t be shy and upload your pictures here.
Good luck to everybody!
