STR-DN1080 Dolby Atmos Issues

I have just discovered that Dolby Atmos is no longer working when playing 4K Ultra HD Discs (with Dolby Atmos audio) - my STR-DN1080 now displays (the core) 'Dolby True HD... ' (whereas 'Dolby Atmos' was always displayed previously). I have checked several 4K Ultra HD discs (all with Dolby Atmos audio), including 'Apocalypse Now Final Cut' which played recently - say, a couple of months ago - without any issues, and 'Dolby True HD... ' is now displayed for each disc.

My setup: STR-DN1080 AV Receiver, UBP-X700 Ultra HD Blu-ray player, KD55AF8 TV and Focal Sib Evo 5.1.2 (FD) speakers. I have used this setup for some 18 months now without any Dolby Atmos issues whatsoever so I am puzzled as to why Atmos is no longer working (although I suspect an update for my KD55AF8 TV may be causing the problem... ).

Any help would be much appreciated!

Solved - it turns out that my chosen sound field (A.F.D.) was being switched to the '2ch Stereo' sound field (despite TV 'Sound mode sync' - "The sound field of the specified audio system will switch automatically when the TV's sound mode changes" - being disabled).

Hi Pauliepnutz

Here's what I found in the Help Guide:

Dolby Atmos is decoded as Dolby TrueHD or Dolby Digital Plus when a sound field other than [Multi Ch Stereo], [A.F.D.] or [Dolby Surround] is selected.

Make sure to change the Sound field settings to one of the mentioned.

Here's a link to the page I quoited: https://helpguide.sony.net/ha/strdn108/v1/en/contents/TP0001273218.html

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

I am aware of that Help Guide page - A.F.D. is always my first choice for multi-channel content (and is the sound field I choose for Dolby Atmos), so I remain baffled!

Hi Sean,

That would be much appreciated! In the meantime, I will recalibrate and double-check everything (and try playing some DTS:X titles)...
