Xperia U almost dead

Hi Guys,

So, i went to the beach. I put the phone in a bag made of cloth and went ahead to enjoy tide. When i took out the phone; it was wet. Touchscreen was not working. I took out the battery. Tried to dry it. I found that even without a start whenever i used to insert the battery the transparent strip got turned on.

After coming home, i put it in a rice, sun and all. Nothing happened although transparent strip didn't glow up this time while inserting the battery however when i pressed the power button; the red led blinked a lot so i thought that battery is drained out. Also this time the transparent strip gave half green color as well.

I charged the battery and found out that led is not glowing and power button is not working at all.

I put this battery into another XU of my friend and it didn't work so i put his phone's battery and at the press of the power button; screen did vibrate but didn't showed anything on screen except a little brightness.

I don't know what to do now. It was just only 2 months since i am using it. I am really sad. I tried to find the service center in Mumbai/ New Mumbai in India but site is not showing anything and i heard that SONY Mobile's customer service is really bad. They keep phone for months and pretend that they didn't have parts.

I have other Sony Ericsson phones like W995i, Yari, K810i, T600i etc and they tolerated water pretty well. I am unable to understand what went wrong in this case.  Please advice.

the Xperia U it is not water proof (the xperia active, go, acro S are) as simple as that

is Sony spying on users in this forum?

Really sorry this happened to you, but I can't believe you knowingly took your XU into the sea with you. o_O

Are you actually complaining about the XU/Sony, after you doused your phone in the BIGGEST BODY OF WATER IN THE GALAXY?

Unbelievable. I'd laugh but I feel pity.

Guys, i knew that XU is not water proof. Infact that's why i put it in my friend's bag which looked like a leather bag but actually could pass water. I am a Sony Ericsson user from the times of T600i black and White mobile and i have good knowledge of phone features like water proof etc.

Whatever has been done can't be reverted back so i want your advice. Will service center would be able to fix that kind of phone and please let me know any good service center in New Bombay area.

if the damage its not on the motherboard you could replace the parts or you can get Sony to replace them, of course your warranty is long gone (it doesn't cover water damage), it will be cheaper to repair it yourself. if the damage its on the motherboard you are out of luck as replacing the motherboard will cost almost the same as a new Xperia U.
