kdl-40v3000 bravia dark lines/shadows.

i have exactly the same problem as the other people who have written about this tv model on the forum and there seems to be manty many more out thereon forums reporting the same problem that sony will not acknowledge.

there are dark lines running down my screen and a dark shadow line about an inch think on the right hand side of my screen, this was more noticable when watching football. my tv is not under warrranty anymore but is only 2 and a 1/2 years old. it seems that sony have created their screens to only last this long as lots of people have the same complaint.

i have just rang sony and i have been told that "there is no known problems with this model" that is rubbish as clearly there are a few of us just on this forum with the same pronblem. So we are paying about £1000 for a tv that will only last 2.5 years. i am disgusted with the lack of help and support from the sony call centre staff who basically said i need to get it fixed myself and i need to book it in with a service engineer. I suspect this is a problem with the panel or with the screen where a replace ment would cost you more than getting a new set. it would cost me £45 just for someone to come out and tell me that without even having it repaired. as a dedicated sony buyer over the years i cannot believe that my most expensive buy has only lasted 2.5 years.

WHY IS SONY NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT THIS PROBLEM??

Found this thread a couple of weeks ago.   I have the same model and in December company came out to inspect the "smoking" issue, everythink ok.   I mentioned the lines on TV, but they did not seem bothered.   Anyway, over Christmas marks got worse, very noticable when watching football (green pitch) and snooker.

I phoned John Lewis as we were still in the 5 year warranty period.   Engineer attended two days later, knew exactly what problem was and said a new panel would have to be ordered.    Received a phonecall from company next day stating they were waiting on John Lewis giving them authority to proceed with repair.

Two days later John Lewis phoned to say it would be uneconomical to repair TV, and that they could offer me straight replacement KDL-EX, but I would only get the remainder of the warranty which was left from faulty TV, but if I paid the difference I could pick any other TV and get a new 5 year warranty.

Needless to say this is what I did, and within the week had received the new TV.....

Well here's the final update with my 46V3000 dark shadows

Because your appliance is out of warranty - and you have not proved that the fault was present at the time of purchase in Spain - you can sod right off - tough titty mate !  or words to that effect.

Im sure its not a Spanish thing either.  - they  just wont acknowledge that there is a problem !

Well heres one that will be voting with his wallet next time - Sony Service was apalling . NO more Sony for me sorry guys - you had your chance to excel but you have lost any future business with your beligerance.

Just to chuck my three pen'orth into the fray .. My KDL46V3000 has just been collected by the Sony appointed repaires here in southern Spain - they have quoted just short of 900E to repair the panel.

The set is  2 1/2 years old - I've refered the repairer back to SONY -  giving them this link - that was one week ago.

We'll see what happens ,,,,,

-  UPDATE -

See Below

Sony do not have a problem with Spanish KDL 46V3000  - no joy !

Hi All.

My Sony KDL-40w4500 started experiencing the same screen fault as  everybodys else. It's only 3 years old, and it started 6 months ago.

My final post and update as I consider this matter closed now especially as I will no longer be a Sony customer.

After countless phone calls and emails to Sony 'customer services' (a joke name) I have decided to accept my retailers (Curry's) offer of a £350 depreciated credit plus the £60 they charged to find a manufacturing fault.

Knowhow is Curry's repairs company.

Sony needs to wake up and recognise that this model has a manufacturer fault otherwise it will lose more customers.

I have just bought a Panasonic Viera TX-L47E5B 47" LED.

After doing some research and making many trips to different shops I found that the picture quality you get with a Panasonic is far superior to Sony.

I learnt through this site that one of the best places to buy your TV from is John Lewis, so that's what I did. You get a 5 year no quibble guarantee thrown in too. I bought it online and it's being delivered free of charge next week.

Goodbye Sony and Good riddance.

Hi all,

ive had my KDL-40V3000 for 4 years now, ive had a shadow up in the top of screen, which I put up with, then started to getting vertical lines, now I have Sky HD, when watching football, its ruining the HD, your eyes are on the lines, . Anyway I took out an insurance threw currys, i pay £6.99 a month with KNOWHOW, they have told me they cannot get a replacement screen, so I will be getting vouchers to buy a new TV. But this seems to be dragging on. But i have been paying £6.99 a month x 4 years, = £340 ish, so I may aswell put that money each month, and just bought a new TV. John Lewis TVs are the same price, yet you get a 5 year no quibble replacement. Never again will I buy a Sony TV. My next TV will be a LG, or Samsung . And not from bloody Currys. pretty fed up with all this now.

Sony wont admit theres a known fault, thats just pathetic as this forum is on there bloody website.

We paid 800 for a 40 inch Sony Bravia and we have had shadows and same problem for the last 18 months after the year expired.

I have been loyal to the Sony brand and this is our third telvision, but unfortunately my last.

I have no faith in the brand anymore as every Sony product malfunctioned or broke down.

The first two televisions are still working in order but the latest one has shadows and not the only one as I can see.

I have had problems with cameras as well, and Sony will be a brand that I shall avoid in future.

Well I have 10 months left of my D&G 5 year guarantee.

The replacement screens are out of stock and never will be in stock for the KDL40V3000.

I have been offered a KDL40EX653BU tv as a replacement. It's an led tv only been out 3 weeks not many reviews but taking it anyway.

Think I'll get another 5 year guarantee now.
