Connecting Digital TV Box to Vaio V-25

Hi...
I have been searching evrywhere to find out how I can get Digital TV on my Vaio...
I bought a Digital TV box... connected it to my Vaio (scart to RCA)... but can get it to work... I read that i should have used scart to S-video.. but I never hear about a cable like that... Does Maplin stock it...
I think my Vaio is also a bit old now and maybe I don't have all the new features...
My Vaio has a 21" screen and I also use it to watch TV and videos.. and would like to watch digital TV also...
Please help...

Hi Niss and welcome to Club Vaio.

You would probably be better to buy a DVB-T TV tuner that fits into your USB port and has the software to view and record digital TV.

Something like this: -

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hauppauge-WinTV-NOVA-T-USB-Stick-freeview/dp/B000F8RPQE/ref=sr_1_3/026-79534...

If you are connecting a Freeview box, it is possible with Scart to S-Video but in practice this connection does not work for all boxes an most scarts do not support s-video. I think you would be better off connecting your external ariel to the Freeview Box input and the ariel output to your Vaios RF input. You then need to tune your Vaio's tuner to the output channel from the Box.

Hi Niss,

S-Video does not carry sound - you will need to connect the RCA (Red & White) sound terminals to your Vaio as well as the S-Video.

Your scart may not suppoet s-video - try it with the Yellow Composite Video connection instead of s-video.
