laptop usage questions

hi there i have a few questions about the proper usage of a laptop

1)Can I have my laptop always on pluged with the AC adapter?
2)Is it possible for the baterry to be overcharged. In other words if i have the laptop all day long on do I have to remove the battery?
3)What is the "Adaptive" option on the vaio power management property in the "CPU Control" field.Does it mean that the cpu speed will be set according to the circumstances? For example on heavy load the speed will be set at its max and on minimum load at its min, does this option works this way?
4)Is there a way to restart the laptop without having to turn it off and then back on.For example during a system crash.

Thank you in advance

Fotis

1) Yes you can, although most people say it is better to remove the battery and just run it from AC if you are doing it that way.

2) You can't overcharge, but see 1)

3) That's more or less it yes.

4) If it hasn't crashed totally, press Ctrl and Alt and Delete at the same time. This brings up the Windows Task Manager. There is a menu at the top called Shut Down, from which you can choose restart or log off. Alternatively I use a program called Force Shutdown, which lets you make certain key presses do the shutdown process. For instance I chose so Ctrl and Alt and R restarts the computer. Ctrl and Alt and S shuts down and so on. This also sometimes works when the computer has crashed.
