Hello,
after upgrading to Windows Me the device manager reports problems with the:
Sony CXD3222 OHCI PCI Host Controller
Intel 82371AB/EP PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
WDM Communication Device
I have installe all the upgrades Sony had for this notebook.
What am I missing?
Hi fspade,
Welcome to Club Vaio,
Have you downloaded the all the drivers and utilities from here
Thanks for your reply.
Yes, I downloaded them all except for SonicStage and installed them except for the video driver. The Hotkey Utility had no effect and the Power Management program said I don't have a battery. So I removed both. The BIOS install worked well. All the other installs worked as well, except for the Input Devices. I am not sure if I installed it properly. I right-clicked on the .inf file and selected install, but didn't see any action. I didn't install the video driver, because it appears that Me recognized it anyway.
I just noticed that the Device manager has also put a mark next to the YAMAHA Native DS1 WDM Driver. I have checked the properties of the devices and folled the instruction to enable IRQ Steering, which had no effect.
Can you help me? Please.
Hi fspade, Thalamus asked if you had downloaded the all the drivers and utilities – have you installed the Utilities plus Sony Notebook Setup and Sony Shared Library? You must install the last two prior to installing the Hotkey Utility.
The WDM Communication Device is, I think, your modem but as there does not seem to be a driver download for this (for you model) I am a bit stumped as to what to suggest to resolve this issue. Do you know the type/manufacturer of the modem?
The Video driver (NeoMagic MagicMedia 256AV/AVP(+)/ZX/XL+ Video Chip Drivers) is available from Vaio-Link. Download and extract this file, then right click the device in Device Manager, select Update driver and point in the direction of the folder in which you have extracted the downloaded file.
Thank you Rich for your reply.
I have downloaded and attempted to install all the files listed for Windows Me. I didn't recognize anything called Sony Shared Library. Did I overlook something?
I reinstalled the Hotkey Management, which worked without an error message, but pushing the keys has no effect.
When I start Sony Notebook Setup (after installing it) I get the error "You cannot use the SXBIOS service". The suggested reinstallation of the Notebook Setup doesn't help with that.
I found out that my modem card is not compatible with Me. Not a big deal as long as I get the rest to work. I removed it and got rid of that warning.
I got the video driver, but hadn't installed it since I didn't see the need to do that. When I did install it, I got messages that the files on my computer are younger then those being installed. I remember having updated the driver form NeoMagic before upgrading to Me.
There are two warnigs left now in Device Manager:
1. Sony CXD 3222 OHCI i.LINK (IEEE) PCI Host Controller
2. Intel 82371AB/EB PCI to USB Universal Host Controller
I suppose because of the latter USB is not working?
And of course Notebook Setup and Hotkeys are not working yet. I think I could do without Power Managent (there is a batterie gauge in the system tray though).
Any suggestions on how I shall proceed?
Thanks,
Frank
