Slow blu-ray movies on VGN-AR21S

I have recently purchased a VGN-AR21S nice spec and blurb says I can play blu-ray movies...... but when I play one (Casino Royal) J.B. looks likeone of the wooden tops (thats for our older viewers) and his mouth dont match his words !! Assume it is something to do with buffering ? any ideas will be welcome. Thanks J.H.

Hi JH and welcome to Club Vaio.

What version of WinDVD BD are you using? The latest version is 7.5.43.272 and you can download the update from HERE

Thanks Blencogo for info but have already downloaded update but to be sure have just done it again. Played movie but it still slows down and speeds up with loss of lip sync. If I run at 85% speed then all ok apart from slow mo and deeper voices !
Thanks again J. H.

I think the problem is hardware decoding. It seems impossible to activate it on WinDVD BD. U can do it in PowerDVD ULTRA and it helps, but still some slowdowns are.

My bet in my case - AR11SR, its driver problem. There is no new XP driver for GeForce GO 7600GT, original one probably doesnt support PureVideoHD.

If someone finds solution please post.

I bought PowerDVD Ultra and I find it's a much better product than WinDVD.

Maybe Sony should consider this next time they release a VAIO.

I also have PowerDVD Ultra but still suffering from slomos on my AR11SR Windows XP. Must be driver, I think that hardware decoding is not active. The load of the CPU is criticaly close to 100% and GPU is not working at all (((

The CPU is used also between 80 and 100% on mine but only if the film is encoded in H264. However it plays smoothly if nothing else is running. I think the problem is that the 7600GT does not really accelerate h264 decoding.

I use Nvidia drivers 158.24 (maybe it makes a difference).

H264 does take a lot of resource to decode

agree my MPEG2 Blu Rays I can play with no problem (30-40% cpu load). Some AVCs are acceptable too, but some of them (APOCALIPTO f.e.) stutter like hell.

Nvidia drivers 158.24 is it VISTA? Any updates are coming for XP?
