Hi
I am working with a Vaio VGN SZ1 XP/C. Perfect laptop just the fan in noisy and running nonstop even when only working with office programs. Is this normal ? Anybody having the same experience ? In some magazine I read that this laptop is so quiet, well not mine.
Your comments are appreciated.
Hi gesada and welcome to Club Vaio.
First thing to check is if you have a fan problem or a overheating problem.
Download MobileMeter and let us know your CPU temperature. We can take it from there.

Hi Blencogo
Thanks for the info. Will let my computer run this night and check temperature.

Hi
Compute was running all night at speed mode, no other programms open. Max temperature was 48 degrees. Fan is running.
thx.

Hi gesada,
The temperature seems fine, have you got your Power management setting set to Adaptive for your CPU..?
Does the temperature increase when you have several programs running..?
i have the same problem on my vaio PCG-GRZ 615G,fan is running non stop
I am not suprised at this time of year, but it's best to check it with MobileMeter just in case
I have a VGN-G11VN with Windows Vista and experience the same problem -- fan running (nearly)n all the time even if I have only a single program open(like Firefox or Word).
I tried to run MobileMeter (in admin mode), but it seems to be incompatible with Vista (like many programs that need access to the hardware).
I run this widget in the sidebar that shows CPU and memory usage -- even if CPU usage is very low, the fan is running.
I also played with the VAIO Control Center / Vaio Power Management where one can adjust the CPU fan speed (level 1 .. 5). Seems to have no effect at all (currently, I use level 3).
BTW, the temperatures in Germany are quite low at the moment, so this is not the problem 🙂
Hi, same Problem with VGN-BX197XP Fan is always working (the noise also ) at almost full speed , even with Adaptative mode actived or Vaio Ultime battery level. At full perf Mode it's an hairbrush !!
