Hi den and welcome to Club Vaio.

Yes you can play DVDs on your TV in high resolutions. You just need a HDMI Cable LIKE THIS ONE.

You should be able to get one from any TV shop/Currys/Comet/PC World etc. They are not cheap and I would go for a middle of the road specification like the Pure AV series if you only have a short cable run.

The AR31E can do many tasks - have a look at the full specifications HERE and have a look at some of David Spaeth's tutorials on Club Vaio under the 'Exploration' tab.

Enjoy your new Vaio.

Hi willie078 and welcome to Club Vaio,

The BX-Series is a business notebook and does not have a TV-out feature - so it's not so easy for you.

To play the output of a BX Vaio on a TV will require either

a VGA Converter Box - LIKE ONE OF THESE

or a USB device that has a s-video or AV output LIKE THIS ONE
