gps precision
I own a Sony xperia c4 dual. My gps is really accurate in Waze (error is less than 5 meters). But even when 8 to 12 satellites are locked, I see in Gps Status a precision between 25 to 75 meters. I guess this is the reason why other apps report there is no Gps fix (eg. ICoyote).
Is it a known issue ?is it hardware or software ?should I send back my device in rma?
Thanks.

Thanks for your answer.
I tried safe mode, but as Waze and GPS Status are not available in this mode, I am not really able to give any additional feedback. Though, I tried Google Maps in safe mode, which got a good fix quite quickly. I made the same manipulation right after in "normal" mode, and the Google Maps fix was quite as fast. But still, in GPS Status, precision was between 25 & 75 meters.
To give you some additional info:
- I use the same car holder in the same location as for my Galaxy S3 which gives a quick, good and stable fix
- at the time of my tests, the sky was completely blue, I tested on 300km of highway (almost no tree and this kind of obstacle)
- I also tried on 50km on my motorbike (so not even a windshield to block the signal) =>same outcome

I think it's a third party app creating this issue.
Try this
settings > Backup & reset > automatic restore > off > then repair your phone with PCC > do NOT install any app, uninstall any antivirus > install waze > check again
Bridge (for Mac)

Hello Japtan,
I think it's a software problem.
I have exactly the same problem on my Xperia C4 Dual : I got a fix in Google Maps or in Waze but I can't get a fix in Icoyote.
I hope a solution, too....

The issue is actually that the GPS reports an accuracy over 50 meters as soon as you drive quicker than 110-115km/h, even if actually, the accuracy is really good, around 5-10 meters. I can understand that an app condiders there is no more GPS signal when the phone says itself that the accuracy is over 50 meters...
So, basically, it will probably be my last message on this topic as I will send the phone back.

No problem, but if other apps work just fine, that's an app issue, enjoy your next phone.
