Hi Everyone,
I am really hoping somebody can help me because my phone has become unusable for the last new weeks / months due to the Android 9 update.
I accepted the update and found my phone would freeze and require a hard re-boot. Thinking it might not have accepted the update quite right, I wiped my phone completely and started again from scratch (I didn't transfer anything over or anything like that - complete wipe and re-instal).
So once I did this it didn't help at all, exactly the same issue. Tried again, and tried to follow some of the advice I read on these pages and none of it worked.
What is actually happens, is the phone seems to freeze when it is locked and trying to sleep. When music is on it doesn't sleep, and when I am using it, it does not freeze. However as soon as it is locked, it freezes, and requires a whole hard re-boot. This makes the phone of little use. Once it is in my pocket, it freezes, and so no one can call me and I have to go through the whole procedure to just check messages etc.
Any help, would be incredibly gratefully received.
(oh and all of the stuff I use is genuine Sony, I follow all Sony's instructions, and have tried wiping the phone completely and re-installing twice)
Scott
This is what I would do:
Remove the SD and SIM cards > Repair the phone once more with XC > test the phone without SIM and/or SD cards > do NOT restore anything > do NOT enter the Gmail account > test the phone to see if you experience any issues

Hi Uniwooly, and thank you for the advice.
I tried the above to the letter, turned it into a completely clean phone with no account, so SD, no SIM and no data on it... and it still turned itself off and needed a hard re-boot. Albeit this time it took a bit longer for it to freeze.Normally this would happen within 10 seconds, whereas this time, on one occasion it was okay for about an hour, then died.
If anyone has any other ideas I would be incredibly grateful.
