I was recently on a trip and went swimming with my phone. The covers were all closed and about 2 minutes in to my swim the the camera stopped working. The battery (which was fully charged) died within a couple hours after the camera stopped functioning. I tried plugging it into the charger and the charging screen came on for a minute and then dissapeared. It did not charge and since then the phone is dead. I currently have my phone in rice hoping that out any moisture that got in.
Is there a way to recover and backup all of the photos that are on the camera even though the phone is dead? I do not want to lose them as they are the only photos I have from my trip.
thanks.

That is really going to depend on a number of factors, I would suggest contacting Sony Mobile Customer Care in your region, they should be able to supply more info for your region. Use my signature below to find contact details.

Hi Astriefler,
Welcome to the community,
Unfortunately if the handset cannot be turned on and used then you will not be able to backup the content or even get access to it.
Have you checked online to see if you maybe actioned the Google photos app which may have backed them up?

I previosly backed up my xperia z3 onto my computer. My phone fried due to saltwater and so I had to purchase a new cell phone. I purchased a Samsung and am wondering if there is anyway to transfer the restored data from the Sony PC companion over to my new phone.
When I try doing the backup it says it only works to do it to a Sony Ericson product.

I'm sorry to say this but it will only work with a Xperia Z3 running the same android version as your old Xperia.

So basically backing up the data is only useful if you continue to stay with Sony products. Is there any other programs that can take the backed up data and transfer it to the new phone. Isn't the whole reason for backing up a phone to keep you from having to re-enter in all of your contacts maunally? I get how this creates brand loyalty but hardly benefits the consumer if a better product comes out by a different company..
