can not change sound notification after lollipop upgrade

ever since Lollipop upgrade I see many issues with my Xperia Z2. But most of all that makes me mad is that the upgrade changed my notification sounds I had customized. not only that now I can not select my favorite sounds for specific notification. can only get sounds and ringtones that are on Lollipop by default. Can anyone help with this?

Thanks that works. Though there are no media\audio\notifications and/or media\audio\ringtones. Just off the root notification and ringtones folders. I put it in both. Now how do I get different sounds for txt and email. Can't find anywhere settings for it unless I go to each contact in the address book.

You should be able to do so, you could use the music app, select song, menu, set as ringtone

You should try settings-apps-all, tap on 3 dots and reset app preferences.

@jardaz we are only trying to help here. Have you tried my suggestion?

I do recommend that you try the suggestion from alexdon. Sounds like you may have chosen the wrong sound picker app. After resetting app preferences, the phone will ask you which app to use to select ringtone/notification, here select "Sound picker".

But if this is not the cause it could also be that the sound you are trying to use is stored on the external SD card which may caause issues (we are investigating this). If so, try moving it to the internal storage.

Sorry, didn't want to offend you. So I didn't try to reset app preferences. And I will. The thing is that will reset for all apps, that means I'll have to customize again and that is what I try not to do. And yes the favorite ringtones were stored on sd card and I moved it to ringtones folder in main storage but it still didn't show in the list of sounds. Please don't take me wrong but I'm bit upset with these things of forced upgrades etc. Not only Android but all software. Imagine that a beer maker will fill the bottles of your favorite beer with unfinished products so you get nice coloured water. If we all work like that the whole world be... Can't say that. Thanks for helping anyway

It will only reset what app opens a specific file,it is not that difficult to set it up again.

Thanks again and as I mentioned before reseting all apps had nothing to do with the sound notifications. It Just dumped all remembered logins, all other customized settings for more than a dozen apps I didn't want have notification for, and a lot more. U c when one rely on sounds more than on visual these things become important. And yes as u said "it is not that difficult to set it up again" but somebody got to do it, use his time to fix something that shouldn't be broken at first place. Bottom line is I still don't get to select my favorite sound for incoming txt. and all email accounts. Only default! And once again thank you for your help I do know that it is not you who creates the trouble I know you doing your best to help thx
