I would please like to turn off proximity sensor

This has annoyed me so much and caused me to loose money. I accidentally dial a number and the entire phone locks, I cannot end the call and I cannot do a hard reset.

Please I really do not want to learn how to live with this sensor. I would just like to switch it off.

Suggestions that I change my phone would be accepted.

Thank you.

@Jvy What about safe mode, does the same occur?

This can't be done, even if you get a different android or iPhone it will be the same, what you could do however is to set a pin lock.

@Jvy

If you disable the proximity sensor won't change anything, think about it, the proximity sensor its there so you don't press anything on the screen while its near your face.

@Phy I tried pin and password lock. Same difference. When I make a call nothing works, tapping the screen (so the phone is away from my ears) the volume buttons the camera button, nothing works. I have to hold the power buttomln down for about 5seconds to turn it off

@Uliwooly I miss the good old days when I could manual lock the screen. It wasn't too much extra work for me considering that I dont trust my phone to make calls to special services that require me to use my keypad. I accidentally click the call button on WhatsApp and the only options I have is to wait for the person to pick and I apologize, turn off my phone or wait for it to ring off which is a long wait.

It is so sad that we do not seem to have the power to choose what settings we have on our phones.

@Jvy

That's quite odd, are you saying that you place a call and your screen doesn't work?

@Uliwooly when I make a call the phone locks me out. So yes when I make a call the screen doesn't work

@phy I did as you suggested rather than proximity sensor there was ear proximity. As soon as I started that test it started to vibrate. I didn't have to lay it on a flat surface as the test suggested. When I covered the sensor (which seems to be between the Sony logo and the front facing camera) it stops vibrating

@Jvy

Does your phone has a protective case or film or glass?

@Uliwooly No. Not at the moment. I removed all of that to figure out why my phone becomes unhappy when I make calls
