My phone has been stuck on bootloop for two days now. It started giving me issues when it constantly was freezing after being overheated on Sunday. (I accidentally left it out in the sun- my mistake! But it's been fine before!). It worked just would freeze. But now it won't power up and is stuck on bootloop. I did put it in the fridge for 5 hours to cool it down but still nothing.
I've done a soft reset and forced it to power off. I don't want to do a factory/hard reset because I want to try and salvage the data. I can't do the Sony Companion thing because my phone is locked.
My phone is not on warranty as it is almost 5 years old and I bought it new from eBay. Does anyone know what I can do?
Hi @tutorgrrl, sorry to hear about this.
Have you tried removing both the SIM card and SD card(s) from the device? If you haven't done that, try removing them and then start up the device again.
If you still aren't able to boot it up fully, you will need to try and perform a software repair using Xperia Companion and this will delete all data stored on the internal storage. We do not have any program/tools to backup/access the data on a device that is not fully booted up and unlocked.
Keep me posted!
Yes, I have removed my SIM and SD card and the same thing happens. I had a feeling I wouldn't be able to salvage my data . Currently doing a factory reset for it. Hopefully this works!
Hi again @tutorgrrl!
Feel free to keep me posted and it's easy to forget backing the data up, but I for example, the Google Photo application to backup my photos directly when I take them to Google Drive, Google Keep for my notes and so on.
