Hi
I am wondering if someone can help. I have this Sony Xperia Z3 for nearly 4 years with no complaints. Had to go back to it as the new (other make) phone gave in. All went well with the setup, as I did a factory reset. After 2 days, a message comes up constantly as "Start has stopped working". The Sart app does not work. I cannot delete the app and am not sure how to rectify this problem. Once I ignore the warning, I can use the phone, but the message comes back often. How can I solve this without having to factory rest this phone again?.
Hi @Mike117, sorry to hear about this.
Have you tried clearing data for the app that is malfunctioning? This will reset all settings for the app which might do the trick. In order to do this, find and tap Settings > Apps > Tap the three dots in the top right corner > Tap "Show system" > Start/sart > Storage > Clear data > Tap "OK" > Restart the phone.
Another thing that you can try is to reboot your phone in safe mode in order to see if this behaviour persists there. All apps downloaded from Play Store is temporarily deactivated while in safe mode and by doing this you can see if this behaviour is caused by a downloaded app. For more information on safe mode and how to use it, click here.
If none of these measures manages to get rid of the error message, I suggest that you try to perform a software repair using a computer and Xperia Companion. Please note though that a software repair will erase all user data, so remember to do a backup of your user data first.
Try these measures and let me know how it goes!
