Z5P Touchscreen (tapping) problem

I'm facing a weird issue with the Z5P touchscreen (tapping) action at the top left side of the screen panel  (the location for the (back arrow <-) or the (App Menu Icon).

1- after reboot everything works fine

2- after an hour or so, sliding (for example the facebook chat head) is detected over this area, but leaving it then tap to open is not detected, same happens with any application (back arrow) or (menu icon), even the (back) of the settings for example.

3- in landscape mode the same area (the top left side) is not detected when tapping over, although the touchscreen location is changed now, its at the top right, as i rotated the device clock wise.

4- after reboot every thing works fine for an hour or so, then the issue is back.

tried the "services test", the sliding touch is detected allover the screen, but at the (tap test) tap is not detected at box no# 1.

this is weird for me as if there was a problem in the touch sensor, the problem should exist at the same location, even if i rotate the device, but it stays at the (back) arrow when the device rotates.

tried PCC software repair several times with no luck.

After more digging I found the fix, simply the Facebook Messenger is the cause for this issue, by removing it the issue gone immediately even without a restart.

@uliwooly,

Do you have any idea what will happen if i contacted the Local Support?

Simply I'll start a 2 months cycle of sending the device over, and receiving it back as is, the only difference will be the added scratches from their side, they'll try all possible solution they might know, which are pretty limited as we are in Egypt man, Sony Support here might not even got their hands on Z5P till the moment Grinning_Face

Please uliwooly, do not close a thread till you are sure it has no fix, this place here might be the only place for some users like me, closing their threads might lead to destroying their devices or wasting more of their time

uliwooly, thanks for your suggestions,

i did repaired with PCC 9 times till now with no luck, and every time I lose some data, some Internet quota, and some precious time, appreciate if someone can help with a better proper solution than the PCC that does nothing except wasting time.

thanks.

I have the same problem. I think it's a software bug.

Thanks for the heads up because I was tearing out my hair trying to figure out what this was. I too had tried software restores and it only seems to be recently when my upper left touch stopped working. I turned on developer mode and enabled the touch indicator and it showed that touch was indeed being registered but the app itself didn't recognize it. I'll just uninstall the Facebook Messenger app and hope the screen keeps touching properly.
