Good question.
Excuse my briefness.
I recognise the better quality of the Oled models but my main criteria is to handle long periods of the TV being left on a station each day.
I'm not into hero worship of a particular technology, and I'm not jumping on any bandwagon and I'm happy to listen to good informed explanations - particularly from engineers. In particular, I am not saying Oleds are bad, far from it, just that I think the circumstances of my intended use might favour a choice of the Bravia 9 or 7 in a 55" size. Trouble is, the 9 does not come in a 55" size.
Although my opinion is influenced by different things, to give you a brief flavour or answer, I currently would mention two areas that matter that I've thought about and discussed over a long while:
- Comparatively, although poorer quality than OLED, there's probably a slightly better chance of retaining picture quality over the years of use - e.g. colour, if using non OLED organic source.
- Comparatively, although poorer quality than OLED, there's probably a better chance of Mini LED minimising any burn in issues - since it definately will be subject to prolonged daily use on News channels - or displaying the static main AppleTV menu .
These things are not fixed in stone but are a couple of elements that I need to consider.
