I am close to buying the KD43XH8505BU and there are some good offers appearing as the 2021 models are on the way. I am just wondering, having waited over 10 years to replace our still excellent ex503, whether I should wait for the equivalent 2021 model, which would appear to be the KD-43X85J. No doubt this will have some extra features etc but will also cost a fair amount more I would imagine, certainly at launch.
Does anyone have any knowledge re the new model and is able to suggest why I should wait for it?
thanks
Hi,
Well, it's hard to compare both models since in 10 years technology has improved a lot.
So I would say Yes, it's worth the extra cost since it offers so much more compared to your old TV.
However, I wouldn't buy it straight from the beginning as prices usually drop after a while.
Cheers
Peter
thanks for answering but my question was actually a comparison between the 2020 and 2021 models, not my old tv.
The price question is definitely subjective, but the XR models seem to have a significant improvement (using Google TV and the new XR processor with all the features it brings).
I'd honestly wait for reviews before making a purchase, and we're just about to start the 2nd quarter of the year, so releases should start ramping up now.
Hope this helps!

Neither of the models I quoted will have XR as they are 43 inch models.
Hi homerhotspur5, none of the 2021 models will start with KD as far as I can see. Are you sure about the models? Check the Sony website for reference: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/tv/t/televisions
Yes, it's there on the website. Price still unavailable.
I found HDTVTest on YouTube invaluable to help me choose when I bought mine. It's very technical if that's what you like.

@homerhotspur5 Whoops! I completely missed that.
The specs are still not available along with the price. So while the XR processor doesn't seem to be on that model, we still can't make a comparison yet.

That looks an interesting site, if the relevant tv's are reviewed.
