question about SDR/HDR - Black Level adjustment (Sony XH 90)

Out of box, the black level in the picture settings is at 50.

But it got me thinking, would it be best to put the black level all way down to 0 and then brightness at the highest it can be for good SDR and HDR content, or do you just keep the black level at the default setting?

And for the purpose i am using it for: Is video game but also subscription service like crunchyroll/wakanim for the purpose of watching anime.

So long story short: I wanna know what the optimal black level setting is.

Hello @SonySSD,

best would be to leave the value as close to "center" as you will alter the image if you set it too far towards 0 or 100. Also your TV has a "Netflix calibrated mode" which will show you the image (at least for Netflix) exactly as it was intended by the producer.

For everything besides Netflix as I said - keep it close to center and alter it to your liking - you will probably see when it looks unnatural and "off" in some way.

Sony also has a handy guide for adjusting picture settings which might help with Nic's suggestion.
