Sony Android TV keeps switching back to app screen and won’t stay on selected channel

AC970DA7-CA5E-4D21-BA77-4490B967B56B.jpegToday my Android Sony TV has started to play up.  Every time I switch it on it starts up showing the app screen,  When I changed channels it goes to the channel and within seconds it changes back to the app screen.  Any suggestions as to what is the problem and what I need to do to rectify the issue please ?

Hi,

 

Please reboot your TV by pressing and holding the power button on the remote commander.

This happened last night abs have spent hours trying to fix it with no success any help would be much appreciated

I have tried rebooting and it is the same.  I am also unable to use catchup.

I’ve had this problem for the last few days. I disabled Freeview and can now watch TV okay, but catch up still has an issue. BBC iPlayer works fine. ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 catch-up don’t work, when selecting a message appears asking to install Freeview, but when I do that it’s back to square one and the TV doesn’t work as described by the person who originating this thread. Has anyone got a resolution yet?

Oops, I meant to say YouView not Freeview by the way!!

Hey guys, I don't see model numbers so I will tell what you can try in general.

-Unplug the TV from the mains for few minutes.

-Clear cache and data from YouView and YVservice host from the apps menu.

-Unplug the aerial. Tune the TV (While it is out).

-Plug the aerial back and enable YouView from the menu and follow the on-screen instructions. (ITV and all 4 etc won't work without enabling YouView.

Let me know if that worked.

We tried unplugging aerial, switching it off and leaving for couple of minutes but nothing seemed to work.  We thought about resetting to factory settings but would use this as last resort.   Emailed Sony for their advice and were also going to ring them as soon as they opened the next morning.  In the morning we got up and switched the TV on to see if the issue was still there and amazingly the issue on our TV had gone and the problem had been resolved.  Why? No idea, all we can think is there was a glip.  Fingers crossed everything is working ok.

Glad to hear it was resolved for you!

 

If it does appear again, let us know the software version and model number of your TV, (I've seen this issue before and clearing the cached data solved it, no factory reset needed).
