I have a problem my aspect ratio button under settings is greyed out , my dealer has changed the main PCB board to no avail and I have no way of resolving this .Does anyone else with this model have the ability to stretch 4:3 old type
movies to fill the screen for playback please? How do I get Sony to look at this as it feels like a software issue?
Here you will find the web manual for your TV:-
And this is what you get when you drill down to Screen :-
https://helpguide.sony.net/tv/haep1/v1/en/01-03-09_01.html
As you can see, there are a whole battery of options to adjust the picture.
I can find nothing to indicate why it might be greyed out, though.
Where are you watching these old movies from? Broadcast, DVD player, USB?
Try other sources and see if the Screen option ungreys, as it may be that the source you are using is imposing the aspect ratio settings. (If so, I know this won’t solve it, but as least it will explain it).
As far as I know, you can only adjust the aspect ratio on TV channels and -maybe- some apps.
So, if you're using an external device, it's not available. You can only change that from the external device itself.
Hope this helps!

Funny, I have quite a few recent posts under my belt?
Perhaps you are thinking of my alter ego @royabrown, my original account here, which I lost control of when the Community software became convinced it wasn’t mine and wouldn’t let me back into it, at which point I cloned myself 😛
It would be jolly nice if I could be merged back into one person, though. Do you know if the Mods can do this for me?
So not only do you have the ability to be cloned, but also merge back. Honestly, I'm a little jelly here.
Not sure if merging is a thing, especially because I keep seeing people unable to "migrate" from USA forums and such. That said, it might be a good idea to create a thread in the General section to ask (if you haven't already of course).
On a side note, getting back into the account should be fairly easy by contacting the Sony support reps and having them do a "date of birth reset" on your account and then you'll be able to reset your password and log back in. (not sure if that will help with the merging in any way, but on a less serious note, you'd actually manage to become a real life Spiderman meme)
Hope this helps!
