Today I tried out a Logitech USB Wireless Mouse on my XG9505 TV. The USB wireless dongle was plugged directly into a USB socket on the TV.
I quickly discovered two issues:
The TV which is flawlessly controlled (amongst other devices) by Alexa and a Logitech Harmony remote & hub now refuses to turn on and off when commanded although related devices such as the AV Receiver do respond.
Having resorted to using the TV's own remote to turn the TV on I found I could click on the Netflix Icon on the Home Screen using the mouse but when prompted to choose a "User" I had to use the remote as clicking the mouse on the icon had no effect. There were similar issues with Prime.
Please don't blame the App's as they both work fine using a mouse on my Android TV box.
I really did think that in 2021 a mouse would be compatible with a Sony Android TV.
I even had to resort to a restart (long press on the TV remote) after unplugging the USB dongle before the Alexa/Harmony combo would turn the TV On/Off again.
Solved! Go to Solution.
I had similar problems, mainly that the dongle prevented the TV from waking up from standby. So I bought a Bluetooth mouse which works fine https://tinyurl.com/y6jsqlkd

Whilst I accept your post as a solution to me it is Sony nonsense that a USB wireless mouse prevents the TV from coming out of standby via an IR command (Seems it needs a Bluetooth remote command).
Either way a wireless USB seems unusable and from your own experience a Bluetooth mouse cannot replace the TV remote on a Sony Android TV.
Unbelievable really for a Sony "Android" TV IMHO.
I have decided its not worth wasting any more money on mice.
Yes, it happens with the latest Firmware.
@williamfsmith Agree with your views, but don't have the same ambition to replace the Sony remote with Harmony etc. Yes, I do need both the mouse and the remote, which has to be available anyway for text input (am not too good at using voice). Only wish that a left mouse click could be used as ok to execute.
I use Harmony/Alexa for the basic function of powering on/off several combinations of AV devices with verbal commands which means I still use the devices own remotes as well.
I had the notion that it would be nice to use a mouse to navigate menus on the TV as well as the inbuilt apps instead of the TV remote.
From reading your posts it is evident that I will still need to use the TV remote in conjunction with a bluetooth mouse to perform this function which is not what I originally envisaged.
@Joe_Dohn My problems with KD-43XD8088 not waking up from standby started 2 years ago after upgrading to Oreo (66510). After removing the dongle it has not happened again. Reading other posts since then makes me suspect that it might not not the upgrade itself, but rather that the the presence of the dongle while upgrading somehow affected the reconfiguration process?
Anyway, attached the dongle yesterday and my TV ( now build 665751) woke up from standby as normal.
@khallergard That's very peculiar 🤔
Have you tried clearing the cached or resetting to factory defaults? There might be some sort of corrupt file causing this issue.
Hope this helps!
