I recently bought a XR-65X90K television from Argos on the 27/5/2023 and it said on the Argos website I would get a manufacturers guarentee of 5 years. When i registered the product on the Sony website it only states 1 year. Who do I need to get this fixed?
Here is a link to the Argos page for your TV,
https://www.argos.co.uk/product/2653613?clickPR=plp:5:43
Scrolling down the page go to Additional Features and you can see it say comes with Manufacturers 1 year guarantee.
Can't see on first glance any reference to a 5 year guarantee/ warranty, if it were offered then you would have received details about the warranty from Argos at time of purchase.
All I can see on the page for this TV is you have the option to buy accidental coverage and extended warranty of 2 years for £217.99.
Under Questions and Answers some one asks the same question as you do here, answered by an Argos employee it states there is only a manufacturers one year warranty.
Where did you see that his Sony TV has a 5 year warranty on the Argos website.
If it doe indeed come with a 5 year warranty that will be offered by Argos not Sony.
My XR-55A95K is also just showing one year on the Sony Warranty checker. However I always diligently save everything to do with a sale on file. This includes the invoice, a snapshot of the website on which I ordered my TV etc., just in case. From personal experience Sony do honour the 5 year guarantees, so for peace of mind I suggest you contact them to check. You will need a copy of your invoice, serial number etc.

They used to issue a 5 year warranty certificate on request. Here is my snapshot of the sales website for my TV. I always buy direct from Sony to cut out the middleman.
Hi
using that same link open up Q's & A's and see the reply from Argos staff on Q3
I realized my name was on the image so I have removed it.

Hi @john.taylor1 That was clearly true in December 2022. Either way it is only Sony or Argos that can confirm your warranty - Sony Support Consumer Electronics
Here is a link to the Sony UK shop where your model of TV is listed has having a 5 year warranty,
https://www.sony.co.uk/store/search?query=%20XR-65X90K
So I guess you'll need to see why you are being told only a 1 year warranty.
Perhaps you are still in the window for returning to Argos for a full refund
check their returns policy here,
https://www.argos.co.uk/help/returns-and-refunds/?clickOrigin=searchbar:productdetails:term:returns
You could then buy direct from Sony although they are out of stock of that model at the moment.

Do you think there might be a reduced warranty because I bought the TV on a promotion? I had a similar situation and was told by the shop that a promotional item had a reduced warranty.
Hello @john.taylor1, have you registered MySony account? If you're sure that your TV comes with a 5 years guarantee, then you can claim your warranty from this link: https://www.sony.co.uk/promo/5yearwarranty
Once you have clicked Proceed on the link above, you should be able to see the eligible TVs and retailers.
