Edit: Yes it does but you have to enable it first via the "Google" app > Menu > Settings > Google Now.

Thanks for the correction, i always tend to get them wrong lol.

I cannot start google now on my Xperia P using this method, there are no soft keys on this phone by default.

I don't have this phone so I can't test it, there has to be a way to launch google now
