it might be an app acting up

repair your phone with SUS or PCC

do NOT install any of this apps

taskillers

battery apps

antivirus

ram apps

boost apps

also check which accounts are you syncing and how often

that's normal, smartphones usually last between 8 - 10hrs w/ normal use, heavy use 8hrs or less

this will help, go to settings/wifi then go to advanced, the option for keep wifi on during sleep, select NEVER. if you put it to always it leaves the wifi on even if you toggle it off. this was an issue after ugrading to ics. fellow xda member found this problem and it resolve the android system issue bug.

am strongly disagree, this is the joke of the year..........

smart phone normally lasts only lasts 8-10 hours

you can ask your friends using apple or samsung how much battery backup they are giving

my another phone is iphone 4s giving more than 20 hours on normal use

hundreds of hours on standby mode

but my xperia ion giving 6 - 10 hour maximum most of the time on standby

so only less than one month I HATE SONY XPERIA because of the battery

that might be a super iphone 4s bc all my friends that have an iphone have horrible battery life, that goes to ppl I know with S3 etc they get worse battery life than my Xperia S, T, Arc, etc

charge your phone 100% > use it as you normally do > once it reach 10% go to settings > battery > take screenshots of the whole list, tap on the graph take a screenshot and also take a screenshot of the top 4 items on the list (tap on each one of them) post it all here.

also remember that the Xperia Ion has LTE same as the S3, thus drain your battery a lot faster.

most likely you have intrusive apps, such as taskillers, antivirus, or you are constantly syncing
