new android phone user needs help

Hi to all the tech gurus

I have a few questions for all of you

I am not at all tech savvy and this is my first phone

I bought a sony ericsson xperia pro MK16i a few days ago ,

downloaded pc companion

it gave me a icon to upgrade phone software and by doing a very long playing around with my first smart phone I have  found that the phone is upgraded to 4.0.4 version What does it mean ???

also I am unable to play music on my bluetooth earpiece which was working fine with my nokia e6???

what am I doing wrong that the music doesnt play in the phone via bluetooth

may I know where is the mic located ??? as many people ask tell me that the voice quality is very bad and its not printed in the manual either

also when i was buying the phone the store rep told me to store applications on SD card

I downloaded a program called wondershare which is pretty to use

all the apps are now on SD card but still the memory says 141 MB used by apps and 277 MB available

Is this sufficient ???

also I was wondering if downloading and installing and uninstalling apps leaves traces on MMC may be thats why the space on the MMC is getting used very quickly

e.g on a computer

if we install and unistall programs it leaves traces like in restore points and we have to run another program like revo unistaller to completely remove the programe and its traces or folders

Is the same applicable for an android phone???

if so then how can I manage my mere 420 MB on phone

I currently have netquin mobile manager, App cache cleaner, netquin android booster, but i feel that there is a lag in the phone

also do I need to have a 3G data plan as I currently only have vodafone 2G plan

thanks in adavnce for any help

thank you for your reply nolramlb

1) i searched google and 4.04 is icecream sand wich version of andriod as I said I am new to android smart phone

2) what do you mean by checking compatibility ???

3) my sd card is a 16 gb but there is a starnge problem you know when you add shortcuts from your other screen to home screen ( add icons and shortcuts for apps) they dissapear after i turn off and turn on the phone again

Is this a known issue with phones or what am I doing in this case

also i turn off the phone when going to sleep when i wake up and turn the phone most of shortcuts are missing from the home screen

How can I solve this problem

4) what is MSC mode ???

1.) android 4.0.4 is the next upgrade from previous Gingerbread, it means your phone is now running the latest update for this xperia lineup

2.) check for the compability, try to check if it is supported by the phone. try to search for the userguide on google

3.) how much was the capacity of your SD card?

4.) most apps are removed when you uninstall them, but to be sure you check by connecting your phone via msc mode to see the contents of the sd card.

5.)you cannot modify phone memory unless you root your phone.

6.) i suggest that you do not use apps like ram booster, battery saver antivirus and the like as they may reduce your battery capcitity. a file manager is sufficient /

of course 277 MB of RAM is enough.

after uninstalling an app the traces are only folders without any files so no need to worry.but some apps do keep files cause if you install them again in future then it uses those files.

i don;t have any antivirus program in my sk17i.though i scan my SDcard on PC.

your phone mic should be inside the flap near the qwerty keyboard.

sony smart connect might help you regarding the bluetooth headsets.
