Hi,

I don't know why, but the original thread has become "hidden" (and impossible to reply to)...so I guess we have to ask again!

Here's the problem:

Finally the ICS update has become available for my phone (SI 1253-7151) - yippee!

PC Companion pops up a message about the new update. If I click "Update", PC Companion starts downloading the update, finishes the download and says "Preparing computer for program updates".

Then it proceeds to

"Unable to install or start components for update of phone system"

and my phone does not get updated.

Then I have tried Sony Update Service, but now I can't even start it properly; the program crashes right after opening it. It just says "Synchronizing" and then "An unexpected error has occured. The application will shut down." so I never get any possibility to see why.

Again, my phone does not get updated.

Since both programs crash there must be a serious problem with the downloaded files (and they're probably shared between the programs?).

Apparently I'm not the only one experiencing it; I can see in a Norwegian forum that other people have the same problem - and in the original thread that you have hidden (!).

At the end of the day, what can we do, or expect? Are someone working on this?

PS. The original thread was not mine; I just replied to it since I had the exact same problem. Regarding the new "moderation strategy" I believe that the above question is not rude, it's not spam - and reposting the question is necessary when the issue has not been resolved and the original thread has disappeared... Please appreciate our feedback!
