Drop-down Extending and Retracting Spontaneously

Half the time when I use my phone, the dropdown will come down. Sometimes the drop-down will extend and retract many times a second preventing me from using my phone at all. This only happens when my phone is unlocked and it does not depend on whether or not I'm holding my phone. I've attempted a factory reset, my OS is up to date as of today. Someone please help.

I am sorry to hear about this. do you happen to use a cover or screen protector on the handset? These types of products if not made correctly for the device can cause issues like this.

If you do happen to have either can you attempt removing them and then testing to see if the issue is any better?

I've tried it without my case, SD and SIM card out and without screen protector.

It kind of helps when the screen is super clean and the case is off though, it isn't 100% though.

Are you getting the same results in Safemode?

It is possible that this could still be software orientated this will help clarify.

I made an attempt in Safe Mode, it was effective for approx 10 minutes and the issue reappeared. I've attempted a software repair previously, but I will attempt one again now.

Software repair completed, phone had no issues at all until about now. The same issue has happened again but disappeared after extending and retracting a couple times.

I see, in that case, you are likely looking at a hardware related issue, I would suggest getting the device inspected by an authorised service agent in your region.
