Bluetooth audio dropout

Bluetooth audio dropout

I just got a Z3 compact.  I switched from a Moto X that did not have any bluetooth issues (which is still in my possession in case I can't fix this).

Anyway, when I connect to my Pioneer MVH-X560BT stereo, music will play but the audio will drop out completely every few minutes. The audio will go out for around a second. It's not lag because the song doesn't also pause when the bluetooth audio drops. After a second audio will return. I have tried many apps (Walkman, Power amp, google play, spotify, etc.) and they all produce the same occasional pause.  I have used a few different phones with this stereo and have never experienced this issue.

I bought my Z3c online from someone who had unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom ROM. I found out how to install the stock Sony rom with Emma and thought that would fix my bluetooth issues. It did not. I doubt an unlocked bootloader would affect bluetooth.

I have just tried my Z3 with a different bluetooth speaker and it works without skipping.

Both my old phone (Samsung) and the Pioneer stereo are bluetooth 3.0; they worked flawlessly together.

Therrefore it now seems to me that the z3 must have a backwards compatibility issue with bluetooth 3.0

Edit: I was unable to overcome the compatibility problem with Sony Z3 compact plus pioneer stereo. I therefore sold the stereo and replaced it with a Kenwood BT53U, which works flawlessly.

Same issue here with a brand new Z5 compact and the Pioneer DEH-X5600BT. Old HTC one m7 worked Great but this?.. It Will be with tears in my eyes I need to go back and run aux cable because Sony cant fix this.. The Bluetooth mic I had to mount down half the car to install looks dumb now..

Greetings from Ukraine!

Same issue here.

Xperia Z5 Compact (running Android 6.0) plus Pioneer MVH-x560BT. Sometimes it takes mercy upon me, allowing me to listen for a song or two without dropouts. But mostly there's a second of silence every two minutes or so, which keeps driving me crazy.

Switching off Wi-Fi doesn't help.

Both Lumia 525 (which is probably the cheapest smartphone out there) and Nexus 7 Tablet perform flawlessly.

Not quite sure now, what was all the fuss about Sony's superior software and audio quality :(.

n5100bt user now, with the z3 compact. the bluetooth problem is solved. but not everything is perfect. 3 times in one month, the sony mex n5100bt froze . i had to reset the thing, loosing all my presets. the cause was a flac tune on my highspeed usb dongle. so, sony mex n5100bt might be a flac player, but not a perfect one. a good one, but not perfect. would i buy again the z3 c? yes i would. would i buy the n5100bt? yes i would, unfortunately, yes. so , if you have questions about the 5100bt, ill answer them.

Hello,

I have the same problem with my XPeria z3 compact since I upgraded to Android 6.

It randomly disconnects from whatever audio bluetooh receiver it is connected to (reproduced on Volkswagen car audio, Sony DR-BTN200 headphones, avantree saturn apt-x receiver, UE Boom 2 speakers). I have tried to debug the issue, and here is what I found.

I have collected the logcats during the disconnection and I discovered that just before each time the bluetooth disconnects there are two lines concerning "BeaconParser" I think this has to do bluetooth LE. Here is an extract from the logcat:

I am no longer a Sony user. I find unaceptable the lack of respect from Sony, who in 3 years didn't had the time to fix this problem. Z1, z3 compact, z3, three Sony phones with this problem is more than enough for me. A cheaper phone does the job better then those above. Huawei p9 lite user now.

hi

same problem here, still no solution !

I have experienced exact same audio drop out problems with Sony Xperia L1 and Pioneer MVH-X560BT. However my Pioneer works flawlessly with Samsung Galaxy and even with Lumia 640 XL.

I have similar compatibility problems with other Sony products as well and I have gave up until now. It's better to avoid Sony if just possible, since they do not give about sh*t about customer experience. This audio drop out problem will propably get never fixed. I have HDMI audio problems with all SONY TV's and one of the models with problematic behavior is very ancient (KDL-40W3000). All the displays works theoretically, but i get invasive OSD messages regularly when audio stops and starts again like in the link below.

Very annoying like this bluetooth sreaming issue with Xperia L1.
