I had an issue like that on my X Compact, I downloaded an app called lesser audioswitch, it allows you to manually select headphone or speaker output. It was a pain to have to keep switching it form one option to the other (remember to do it otherwise you won't be able to hear phone calls when you don't have the earphones plugged in) but it worked for me, good luck...
