Please allow Xperia 1 VI to utilise WiFi 6e and 7 in Australia and New Zealand
I recently purchased a TP-Link RE655BE AP, which supports WiFi 6GHz with both WiFi 6e and 7 protocols. After spending a little time to set it up, I was excited to finally embrace the next-gen WiFi on my 1 VI.
Unfortunately however, my phone wasn't able to pick up the 6GHz-only SSID; although I could use the MLO one (2.4/5/6GHz 802.11b/g/n/ac/ax/be), it just stayed on 5GHz with WiFi 6.
Upon further investigation, I suspect that WiFi 6e and 7 are disabled in Australia as AU is missing from the lists in /oem/etc/customization/config.prop:
ro.vendor.sony.wlan.6e_cc_list=HK,JP,AT,BE,BG,HR,CY,CZ,DK,EE,FI,FR,DE,GR,HU,IE,IT,LV,LI,LT,LU,MT,NL,NO,PL,PT,RO,SK,SI,ES,SE,GB,CH,IS,MY,TH,TW,SG,MO
ro.vendor.sony.wlan.11be_cc_list=HK,JP,AT,BE,BG,HR,CY,CZ,DK,EE,FI,FR,DE,GR,HU,IE,IT,LV,LI,LT,LU,MT,NL,NO,PL,PT,RO,SK,SI,ES,SE,GB,CH,IS,TH,TW,SG,US,MO
According to Wikipedia, Australia allows the same channels as those in UK, and New Zealand allows the same ones as those in Japan. Since both UK and Japan are in the lists already, I hope it's not too much trouble to add AU and NZ too. Could the Xperia developers kindly consider? Thank you!

Someone also reported that their 1 VI was able to use 6GHz in Japan but not in Australia (https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/thread/3z4yw6m2?p=29#r562), which seems to support my assumption.

Just upgraded to 69.1.A.2.100 and noticed MY was added to the 802.11be list:
ro.vendor.sony.wlan.6e_cc_list=HK,JP,AT,BE,BG,HR,CY,CZ,DK,EE,FI,FR,DE,GR,HU,IE,IT,LV,LI,LT,LU,MT,NL,NO,PL,PT,RO,SK,SI,ES,SE,GB,CH,IS,MY,TH,TW,SG,MO
ro.vendor.sony.wlan.11be_cc_list=HK,JP,AT,BE,BG,HR,CY,CZ,DK,EE,FI,FR,DE,GR,HU,IE,IT,LV,LI,LT,LU,MT,NL,NO,PL,PT,RO,SK,SI,ES,SE,GB,CH,IS,TH,TW,SG,US,MO,MY
Come on, Sony, you can do us Aussies a favour too!

I have also come to conclusion after trying everything that WIFI 7 is not working in Turkey too. I am quite sure that there is nothing wrong with the country nor the Unifi U7 Pro/Pro Max because I can see that latest Samsung and Apple devices are being able to connect to 6ghz wifi7 on my the routers mentioned in Turkey. Therefore, dear Sony, I expect for your support on this.

@Tolarch If you check the specifications of the Xperia 1 VI, it says that it supports up to Wifi 6: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/mobile-phones-tablets-mobile-phones/xperia-1-vi-256gb/spe... However, you try the steps here as an attempt: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/mobile-phones-tablets-mobile-phones/xperia-1-vi-256gb/art...

The first link you shared actually says 1 VI supports WiFi 7 though:
IEEE802.11be = WiFi 7 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wi-Fi_7

Hi there, I think you are confusing 6ghz with WiFi 6. As mentioned earlier, "be" is actually WiFi 7 and it's written as this phone supports it with 6ghz bands.

Unfortunately, same here too, had an expectation for .160 firmware, but no luck. Still 5ghz wifi 6 connection.

Hi @FrederickZhUK, try to perform a software repair using Xperia companion and check if the issue remains: https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/support/mobile-phones-tablets-mobile-phones/xperia-1-vi-256gb/art...
