I'd like to address one of the annoying issues I'm having though:
When I plug in the headset and listen to music or audio books the pause/play button on the headset works while the music is playing back.
However, when I pause and wait for a while I cannot use the button to continue playing anymore.
I assume that the phone went to sleep and is not "listening" to the button anymore. I think this is a general issue and not only present on my Xperia S, though.
Are you having this problem too?
Is there a way to make the phone react to the pause/play button so it continues playing even if it is in sleep mode?
If so, would enableing this have a noticable effect on battery life?

Ya off course the walkman app is running in the background as i only pause it through handsfree button not kill it. My Xperia S is running on (6.1.A.2.45) version.
seems to be a firmware/software issue. i got a new xperia SL (LT26ii) a week back and started facing a similar issue with the headphones provided with the phone...hope it will be resolved in the next update
Is the Walkman app still running in the background when you face this issue?
Which build numbers are you guys running on?
I have also found this to be an issue, but found that if you press the pause/play button and then press the power button on the phone it then resumes playing without having to unlock the phone. Not a fix, just a work around to an annoying "feature". This is on UK Generic ICS .45
Yes i agree to lainJ; it was a very old bug actually. Even i had same bug i had also mentioned this annoyin bug in one of my threads. SONY replied asking me to update "Smart Connect", doing that will work initially but later-on it doesn't work.
One of the work around found for this issue is, by clicking on Play/Pause button don't resume your play, click on power button once & click on Play/Pause. This action would resume your music.
Hope it helps !!
yes friends i know the fix you described but when riding a bike or any similar situation it is difficult to press the power button every time. Sony should fix this problem
